   With a very highly skilled workforce we are setting the standard for boat repairs and maintenance in Scotland. Timber: Our specialist timber boatbuilder has more than 30 years experience since being UK apprentice of the year, more years ago than he would care to remember. He has worked in Sweden for Halberg Rassy and in the Caribbean building a variety of new craft. In addition to being hands on carrying out the work, he is passing on his knowledge to a new generation. We can undertake all sorts of timber repairs from full refits, teak decks, planking and all the other repairs that timber vessels require as well as carry out brightwork restoration to the highest standard. We are also agents for the Dek-king range of composite decks, a cost effective and attractive alternative to a teak deck. Dinghies: We can carry out minor repairs to your inflatable or RIB, in Hypalon or Vinyl. If a major repair is required we can assess and advise on the best course of action and arrange for the repair if necessary Painting: Whether it is a patch or full topsides repaint, we are able to carry out the work. We can advise on the different types of paint and what would be most suitable for the job, whether two pack paint such as Awlgrip or International Perfection or a single pack such as Epifanes or International Toplac. FRP: Our small team of boatbuilders have a wide range of expertise and experience and we are lucky again in having on board an FRP specialist who served his apprenticeship with Westerly yachts and has since worked all over the world before settling in Ardfern to raise a family. Also a recipient in his youth of the UK apprentice of the year, (no less than four times!), his knowledge of boat structures is second to none and Ardfern Yacht Centre is widely recognised in the industry and by insurance companies as a centre of excellence for major structural repairs.We are not restricted to major repairs but handle all the minor work that is part and parcel of owning a boat including replacing windows and hatches, repairing scrapes and scratches, gelcoating, and many others. Osmosis: We are able to carry out osmosis prevention or full osmosis treatment of an existing condition. What we won’t do is carry out unnecessary work. We have the experience to properly assess what is required and give you impartial advice on the best course of action. |
